Let the party planning begin

We leave for a five day vacation to Disneyland next Monday and so it is important that I get most of the details for Jen and Rich's baby shower before I leave. The first item on my "to do" list was to nail down the food. My family loves Mexican food, so I thought it would be a good idea to check out our favorite Mexican restaurant catering. I called them yesterday and immediately the woman I spoke with started rattling off about all these different platters that they do with multiple items on each platter. She had a rather thick accent and spoke very rapidly. I had a hard time absorbing everything that was included on each of the platter choices. She finished up her pitch with how reasonably priced these platters were...only $79.95 each. I asked her how many a platter served and she said 8 - 10. If I'm doing my math properly, that would be in the neighborhood of $600 for platters that were predominantly appetizers. I told her that I simply could not do this over the phone. That I'd need to come down and see in person what my options were and I made an appointment for 10:30 this morning. I showed up on time and the door was locked. I knocked on the door and no one answered. I waited for about 15 minutes and still there was no one. I left there feeling quite pissed off and it is my thinking that if they don't care enough to show up for an appointment in order to secure my business, then I can't count on them to care about actually doing a decent job. After further consideration I'm beginning to think that it wouldn't be that difficult to make fajitas myself. My friend Mona cautioned me that it will add considerably to my party day load, but she's in if that is what I end up deciding to do. I'm going to check with my two sister in laws before I make the final decision, but I'm pretty sure that they're going to say that we should do the cooking ourselves.
