Will it work?
Children have a way of forcing you to do the right thing. I've already stated that I am not a very good cook. Part of the reason is that I don't enjoy cooking, particularly when I have to create more than one menu per meal. Dan was raised a vegetarian, I was not. My son Cody prefers not to eat meat as well, whereas my daughter Chelsea loves meat, just like me. Add to that big difference the individual likes and dislikes and I'm faced on a daily basis with the non-rewarding task of getting everyone fed. Years ago I simply gave up. I buy take out on an average of three days per week, occasionally even as many as five times a week. There really wasn't too much complaint until a couple of years ago when Cody took a healthy cooking class and he's made my cooking life miserable ever since. This past month Chelsea decided to join the chorus of "we shouldn't eat so much take out. Mom you need to cook more." I've resisted until now. I told the kids that I'm willing to give a little if they would agree to give a little. They had to try to broaden their taste preferences and I'd do more home-cooking. This weeks signals the beginning of this little experiment. Keep your fingers crossed. I know mine are.
