Being an Activist Takes Time

Not only is being an activist fun, it is also time consuming. I started a group at meetup.com for our little Chico tea party organization and when I go online I tend to spend my time there instead of here. Keeping up with the new members, updating the site, and being amazed at how quickly our little group is becoming a medium sized group takes time. Our group can be found at: http://www.meetup.com/Chico-Tea-Party-Patriots/. Our next big event is on the 4th of July. A big event is always held at Bidwell Park and we plan to have a booth so that we can hand out informational flyers, give out pocket Constitutions, and sell t-shirts. We plan to have a "cruise" through the park with decorated cars and then walking as a group into Bidwell Park where we will join in the festivities. I'm in charge of the booth, making sure it is manned from 10 am to 3 pm. Pray for mild weather. I'm making some really neat new friends and am really enjoying becoming involved in an organization that means a whole lot to me!

Summer session starts this coming Monday and goes until June 25th. I have no idea how the whole thing is going to go, but I sure am looking forward to that lump sum paycheck at the end.

The kids have finals week next week and will be out of school for the year next Thursday. Chelsea will begin her "volunteer work" at Dan's office for her International Baccalaureate Program. Cody's already grumbling that he has to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" for his honors English class this summer. He's asked Dan to get the mini-trails in running order so that he and his friend Kyle can ride them the first day of summer break.

I have no idea what we're going to do for vacation this year as the kids have asked that we NOT go anywhere. However Dan and I desperately want to go somewhere, anywhere for vacation. We've even tried bribing the kids but they are holding firm. What's a parent to do?
