It's Official. I'm an Activist

Last night Dan and I attended our first Tea party organization meeting. There were a little over 20 people there. It was wonderful to be in the same room with like-minded people. The tenor of the meeting was very positive, no sitting around and complaining. A lot of emphasis was placed on this being a non-partisan group. Everyone is welcome. The discussion centered on issues and not personal attacks. The agenda included defining our core values, discussing what to do next, and delegating the work. I was able to connect with another university faculty member, as well as a Chico State student. We're planning on working together to organize student support for our efforts. I also connected with another couple from Paradise who are equally interested in doing research that will serve to keep members informed regarding pending legislation, the activities of our elected officials, and track candidates for future upcoming elections. We left the meeting feeling energized and a little less powerless.
